The Chouteau Crossing project at the NE corner of Chouteau and South Jefferson is getting pretty far along in the demo process. The long-neglected warehouse, located on the southern border of Downtown, just north of Lafayette Square, broke ground in April and should be seeing new construction soon. Clayton-based Green Street Properties LLC is handling the project, which will see reuse of the former warehouse on the site as a $22 million green facility. Read more

After years of waiting, the formal groundbreaking is now set for the new Mississippi River Bridge in downtown St. Louis. Meant to create a direct route from Missouri to Illinois along Interstate-70, this $670 million project will be breaking ground Friday, February 26th at 12:30pm.
Come 2014, this project could really bring some major changes to transportation through downtown St. Louis. It’s just too bad we have to wait so long.

The Post Dispatch is reporting that Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III has informed them not to expect any changes in the 2010 lineup at the future Ballpark Village project location. Read more

It seems like the “powers that be” in Jefferson City are at least playing lip-service in the effort to help revitalize St. Louis City. With their help the long discussed, sometimes pipe-dream of a project, known as the Chouteau Greenway (or Chouteau Lake District), might just be back on the table. Read more

Following the completion of Citygarden in Downtown St. Louis, there seems to be renewed interest in the long-troubled Gateway Mall. This renewed interest, as well as the fact that things are probably pretty slow for architects right now, led St. Louis-based HOK’s Planning Group to brainstorm this idea for Kiener Plaza. Read more

Following the ridiculously low $5 million purchase of Plaza Square Apartments in the western section of Downtown St. Louis earlier this week, the new owner is putting money back into the building. Read more

A couple weekends ago, I took a trip to Philadelphia with some old friends, to watch our beloved St. Louis Cardinals play in foreign territory. In the eleven years I have been doing this I have watched the Cardinals play in thirteen different stadiums around the country. Read more

With all the talk about Downtown and the grand schemes and failures of it’s developers, its good to hear about a more sensible approach finding success. Midtown really is coming around nicely; albeit with less fanfare. Link

What do Winghaven in O’fallon and North St. Louis have in common? Not much, but if developer Paul McKee has his way, his company McEagle Properties will have been the brains behind the (re)creation of both areas. Beware of bulldozers! Read more
