Even in the midst of neglect beauty can often be found. Buildings caving on themselves from lack of repair are not what most would consider aesthetically pleasing, but even in these wrecks a trained eye can see things worth noting. For instance, take a look at these pictures.
Photographer Robert “Ferd” Frank took these photos of the building at 3500 Illinois in the Marine Villa neighborhood. I posted an article on this property yesterday and if you look at the pictures I took, they look quite dreary and dull. But with the right lighting and exposure things look quite different. Obviously it will be to the benefit of all when this property and others like it are saved, but even in the worst of conditions there is always a positive side.
